Familiarization of GTAW/TIG

This intensive 1-week course introduces participants to the fundamentals of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), commonly known as TIG welding. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on practice, students will learn to safely operate TIG welding equipment and perform basic welding tasks. The course is designed for beginners seeking foundational skills for entry-level positions or further specialized training.​

Materials Used:


Throughout the course, participants will primarily work with mild steel.

Course Outcomes :

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the principles and applications of GTAW/TIG welding.

  • Set up and operate TIG welding equipment safely.

  • Perform basic welding joints, including butt and fillet joints, in the flat position.

  • Identify and correct common welding defects.

  • Apply standard safety procedures in TIG welding operations.​
