Welder (Welding & Inspection) Course Overview
During the one-year duration of Welder (Welding & Inspection), a candidate is trained on subjects Professional Skill, Professional Knowledge, Engineering Drawing, Workshop Science & Calculation and Employability Skills related to job role. The practical skills are imparted in simple to complex manner & simultaneously, theoretical subjects are taught to help apply cognitive knowledge while executing tasks. The practical part starts with basic welding work viz. gas welding, ARC gouging etc. and performing different testing methods.
The broad components covered under Professional Skill subject are as below:

The practical training starts with basic welding and the candidate is imparted training on viz., Welding (Gas & ARC), pipe joints, MS sheet / plate joints which leads to multi-skilling.

The safety aspects cover components like OSH&E, PPE, Fire extinguisher, First Aid etc.

Perform visual inspection of metal by using different methods like bend test, tensile test, hardness test, impact test etc.

Learners gain practical experience in surface defect inspection using dye penetrant testing.
eligibility criteria
Candidates applying for the welding courses must meet the basic requirements set for each program. Applicants are advised to review the individual course details or contact the institute for accurate and up-to-date information.
- Should have passed a minimum of 8th standard.
- Should be at least 150 cm tall, weigh a minimum of 40 kg, and have normal eyesight and hand coordination. The course commences in the first week of July every year.
